(1−5) Since its inception, these devices and their effects have been described with the methods of quantum chemistry. (6) One field of application, for which this is of particular use is in the development of spintronic devices.

Over the past decades, spintronics have sparked great interest from theoreticians and experimentalists alike, (1−4) in particular because of the promising transport and storage capacities compared to traditional electronics. Various avenues based on organic free radicals (5) and on transition-metal complexes (6,7) have been explored as spintronic nanodevices.
