Sting of the Scorpion Part 17 "Getting out"
Every ambush has the same basic structure, there’s the scouts who spot the target and make sure the ‘target’ gets to the right place, and the two on the train were the scouts. Their job is to call the main body when the targets are approaching to make sure that the main body, those who’ll actually carry out the ambush are in the right place. The main body select a place where they can put down a devastating amount of fire without hitting their own side; the place is called the ‘kill zone’.
Sting of the Scorpion part 14 "Down, not out!"
They could hear the engines labouring hard as they pushed the freight slowly up the gradient, they finally got to see their transport just as they reached the track, the train was still a ways behind them, but even with the effort of pushing twenty five thousand tons up the mountain the two massive diesels were travelling at about 10 miles an hour. “Come on” Joey yelled as he started to run as fast as he could for the train.

Room 522-224, the autopsy room is where Nathan Chambers was headed. There was a noxious smell that hit him as he stepped into the room. He tried to shake it, but it stuck to him like sweat on a hot August afternoon. He stopped by to wait for some critical evidence, but he knew sometimes it could be back logged for long periods. A single autopsy could take less than an hour, it all depended on the complexity of the case and/or the extent of the wounds.

The drive was not without its little problems, but they seemed to be making good time and it looked like the Iranians hadn’t yet totally sealed the area off, they made the next junction and were heading for a ravine when Smithy called out. “Boss, sink the bloody boot on that gas pedal” he screamed. “The sodding Hind is making a pass and she’s looking like she’s coming for us!” “Shit” was Jacko’s only reply, “Okay boys, when I say, jump for it” they all grabbed the handles of the doors.
Sting of the Scorpion part 12 "Breakout"
The dogs saw the wires, they were at human ankle height so they simply stepped over them and carried on, barking as they went, the humans don’t speak ‘dog’ and didn’t pick up on the warning, they didn’t see the wires, they also didn’t hear the small click as pins were pulled from their housing and grenade arms dropped onto the soft foliage on the ground.
Sting of the Scorpion part 11 "Tightening the grip"
Joey and Sandy kept going for the whole morning and most of the afternoon in which they made another twenty miles, but the noise from behind them was steadily getting louder and louder as they heard the sounds of men and hounds pursuing them. They kept to the remote parts of the mountains as much as they could, but even here there were villages and with every village they came across the chances of capture grew exponentially as more and more people joined the search.
Sting of the Scorpion part 10 "Noose"
Gregorovitch was looking pleased with himself, finally things were starting to come together. The fires in the compound were finally under control, the mess that was a Landcruiser and the gates were removed and re-enforcements were beginning to arrive. The makeshift Command post was down in the village at the foot of the mountain as they began to organize the search for the people responsible, he was looking at the map he’d pinned on the far wall of the building and thinking.
Sting of the Scorpion Part 9 "Evasion"
Joey and Sandy came to a stop in a field, by some miracle neither of them had been hit and apart from Sandy still shaking.
Sting of the Scorpion Part 8 "Escape"
“Guard commander inbound to the CP maybe ten seconds” “Negative, we’re on the roof, not seen yet, but only one minute on the timers” “Roger, go for the Base” Jacko turned to Chambers and handed him the clothing that was on the desk, “Quick, change and put these on, give your old stuff here and hurry up” Steve handed the old clothes to Jacko who’d undressed one of the guards, he threw the clothes onto the corpse and they threw the body into the cell, with luck the explosion would level the...
Sting of the Sorpion Part 7 "Assault"
Sandy had already done a quick scan of the room, she had to remind herself these men they’d killed were working for people who happily brought murder, death and destruction onto the streets in nearly every city in Europe, and all for the almighty dollar, they got everything they deserved, and compared to the deaths they inflicted Jacko and Mac had been very merciful! “Yeah,” she replied, “Let’s grab as much as we can” Joey smashed the cabinet with the butt of one of the AK 47s.
Sting of the Scorpion part 6 Preparation. "Stomclouds gather"
In any engagement or fire fight the key is always how good your intelligence is. Get that wrong and you could go thinking you’re facing a ‘washed up bunch of old farts and schoolboys’ but end up staring down two divisions of the best the enemy has to offer, most of the team were from the Parachute regiment and the lessons of Arnhem have not been forgotten! Intel would be the key here too, especially when they’d no idea how many were in the fortress.
