Over the last two years, organizations have been using fewer tools for observability of their data and systems, according to a new report from New Relic. The number of observability tools used per organization has dropped 27% in the last two years, going from an average of six in 2023 to 4.4 in 2025, the survey said.

That’s the takeaway from a new survey from Temporal, which found that only one in four participants said they experience smooth workflows in their organization. “The other 75% are on the frontlines, getting their eyebrows singed off fighting fires,” the report read.

According to the 2025 Stack Overflow Developer Survey, 87% of developers are concerned about the accuracy of information coming from AI agents, and 81% worry about the privacy and security of data when using them. The cost of AI agent platforms is also a barrier for 53% of the survey.
