Targeted metabolomic profiling and machine learning-based prediction models for persistent atrial fibrillation: a multi-center observational study
This study used targeted metabolomics and ML approaches to identify metabolic signatures closely associated with PerAF and to develop predictive models for PerAF. Through univariate and multivariate analyses, eight metabolites were found to be significantly associated with PerAF. These metabolites were primarily related to the TCA cycle and glyoxylate/dicarboxylate metabolism.
Privacy-preserving machine learning with homomorphic encryption for diabetes mellitus detection
This study investigated the feasibility of a privacy-preserving ML framework for Type 2 diabetes risk prediction by integrating heterogeneous ML models, ensemble learning, and HE-based secure data handling. The results demonstrate that competitive predictive performance can be achieved while preserving sensitive data confidentiality, thereby addressing an important translational challenge in medical AI.
Design of H ∞ tracking controller for T-S fuzzy systems
Stability and tracking are two typical and difficult control problems in control theory. Applying the control theory of linear system to nonlinear system becomes an achievable research direction, and the takagi-sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model satisfies such requirements (Takagi & Sugeno, 1985). In this method, the regional linear expression of nonlinear systems is given by if-then fuzzy rules, which can approximate a major category of nonlinear systems.

Hierarchically enhanced feature fusion and loss prevention for prostate segmentation on micro-ultrasound images
Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers that occurs in men. In its early stages, the disease typically presents without noticeable symptoms, often leading to delayed diagnosis. The risk of prostate cancer increases with age, posing a significant threat to men’s health (Rozet et al., 2005). Early detection plays a critical role in improving survival rates (Miller et al., 2022). Transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) is commonly used to guide prostate biopsies for diagnosis (Carter, 2013).

A mini-review of the relationship between intestinal microecology and acute respiratory distress syndrome
Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a clinical syndrome characterized by intractable hypoxemia caused by intra-pulmonary (e.g., pneumonia, aspiration) and/or extra-pulmonary (e.g., sepsis, trauma) factors. Its pathophysiology is characterized by acute, diffuse, and acute lung injury (ALI), which leads to increased permeability of alveolar capillaries, pulmonary edema, alveolar collapse, and damage to lung tissue (Kain, Dionne & Marshall, 2024).
A lightweight fabric defect detection with parallel dilated convolution and dual attention mechanism
Fabric surfaces inevitably exhibit discernible defects due to factors such as pollution, damage, and machine failure. Therefore, detecting defects on fabric surfaces is an important procedure for maintaining high-quality standards in fabric production (Hanbay, Talu & Özgüven, 2016). However, traditional fabric defect detection methods, which mainly rely on human workers, are often time-consuming and exhibit low accuracy due to inadequate attention, subjective judgment, and so on (Wu et al., 2019).

Construction and validation of a prognostic model for colorectal cancer based on migrasome-related long non-coding RNAs
As one of the malignancies with the highest incidence and mortality rates globally, COAD presents significant challenges in prevention and treatment, particularly in metastatic and advanced stages (Bray et al., 2024; Siegel, Giaquinto & Jemal, 2024). Although recent advancements in targeted therapies and immunotherapy have provided new treatment options for some patients, the overall efficacy of these approaches remains limited (Cervantes et al., 2023; Ganesh et al., 2019).
Hyperdimensional computing in biomedical sciences: a brief review
The escalating energy demands of conventional computing systems recently raised concerns regarding their long-term sustainability. As computational demands continue to escalate, it also increases the environmental impact of these energy requirements (Katal, Dahiya & Choudhury, 2022). Consequently, research has increasingly focused on alternative computing paradigms capable of circumventing these limitations and offering more efficient, scalable, and sustainable solutions.

Classification of sleep apnea syndrome using the spectrograms of EEG signals and YOLOv8 deep learning model
Sleep apnea syndrome is defined as the interruption of breathing during sleep and the decrease in the amount of oxygen in the blood (Saha et al., 2016). There are three different types of sleep apnea syndrome: mixed, central, and obstructive (Fan et al., 2015). Central sleep apnea (CSA) is a type of apnea caused by central nervous system-related pauses in the upper airway and lungs during sleep (Aksahin, Oltu & Karaca, 2018).

Consumer buying behavior is a multifaceted field of study that remains challenging to fully comprehend, given its close ties to the complexities of human psychology (Kardes, Cline & Cronley, 2011; Kotler & Armstrong, 2009). While forecasting consumer buying behavior is feasible through analyzing prior purchase data, uncovering the fundamental drivers behind these decisions remains a pursuit (Solomon, 2004).
An analysis of the 24-hour on-call experience and treatment decision of a dental resident, a retrospective study
In this study, the majority of on-call requests for dental residents were due to odontogenic infections. Numerous studies have shown that using emergency departments to treat odontogenic infections often results in uncertain care, failing to fundamentally resolve dental issues, and ultimately necessitating another visit to a dental clinic (Cohen et al., 2011). One study estimated that each admission for dental pain costs the healthcare system approximately $3,000 (Cohen et al., 2008).
Label dependency modeling in Multi-Label Naïve Bayes through input space expansion
The advent of multi-label classification has brought forth a paradigm shift in machine learning, challenging the traditional confines of single-label datasets (Han et al., 2023). In a multi-label context, instances are inherently complex, often associated with multiple labels simultaneously, which reflects the multifaceted nature of real-world data. This complexity necessitates algorithms capable of discerning the subtle interdependencies among labels to make accurate predictions.

CNN-based noise reduction for multi-channel speech enhancement system with discrete wavelet transform (DWT) preprocessing
Many existing algorithms were used to filter noise in MCSE systems and are often used as a pre-processor to improve speech quality. They have proven to be effective in reducing interference signals and improving voice quality. There are two categories of speech enhancement systems, which are single-channel and multi-channel speech enhancement. The approaches for enhancing speech with only one acquisition channel are known as “single channel” algorithms.
