Protective effect of aqueous extract of Perilla frutescens on tert-butyl hydroperoxide-induced oxidative hepatotoxicity in rats.
Abstract <p>The leaves of perilla [Perilla frutescens (L.) Britt. var. japonica (Hassk.) Hara] are often used in Asian gourmet food. The object of this study was to evaluate the protective effects of an aqueous extract of perilla leaves on the tert-butyl hydroperoxide (t-BHP)-induced oxidative injury observed in rat livers. The treatment of the hepatocytes with the perilla leaf extract (PLE) significantly reversed the t-BHP-induced cell cytotoxicity and lipid peroxidation.

MicroRNA-99 family in cancer: molecular mechanisms for clinical applications
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are endogenous, non-coding, single-stranded RNAs 18–25 nt in length. They recognize their targets via complementary binding between the “seed sequence”—an approximately 2–7 nt region at the 5′ end of the mature miRNAs, and a preferentially conserved site within the 3′-untranslated region of the mRNA (Friedman et al., 2009). Within the canonical machinery, miRNAs only degrade the mRNA of a target gene when entirely complementary.

Identification of the RRM1 gene family in rice (Oryza sativa) and its response to rice blast
Rice genome sequence, annotation, protein sequence, and gene structure files were downloaded from the Ensembl Plants database (http://plants.ensembl.org/index.html). The HMM (Hidden Markov Model) PF00076.24 (RRM1 domain) of the RRM1 gene family was downloaded from the Pfam database (http://pfam.xfam.org/). We used HMMER3.2 software to search and analyze the database and predict the RRM1 gene family in rice, obtaining an E-value < 1 × 10−5.

Validation of CDC45 as a novel biomarker for diagnosis and prognosis of gastric cancer
The TIMER2.0 (Li et al., 2017) was utilized to investigate the CDC45 expression among 33 different cancer types in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) project. Clinical and RNA-seq data of 375 gastric cancer patients and 32 normal samples were obtained from the TCGA database through the UCSC Xena website (https://xena.ucsc.edu/), and 210 normal samples were obtained from GTEX databases (https://www.gtexportal.org/home/).
