Screening for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease in type 2 diabetes patients using the fibrosis-4 score in medina-retrospective study
This study evaluated 280 patients with T2DM in Medina, Saudi Arabia, to describe their demographic, metabolic, and comorbidity profiles and to identify risk factors for elevated FIB-4 scores in the context of MASLD screening. To our knowledge, this is among the few studies in Saudi Arabia to specifically report the pattern of FIB-4 score variation among individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus, providing valuable baseline data for regional screening strategies.
Stock assessment and management implications of sailfin sandfish (Arctoscopus japonicus) caught by multiple fishing gears with different selectivity in Korean waters
The Korean government has been promoting a resource recovery project since the mid-2000s to restore declining sailfin sandfish resources. In 2009, a total allowable catch (TAC) system was implemented for two fisheries, namely the East Sea mid-sized Danish seine (DS) and East Sea mid-sized trawl fisheries, to manage the sandfish population. Nonetheless, sandfish resources have experienced a decline in recent years (Fig. 1A), necessitating integrated management at the macro level (Lee et al., 2024).

The effects of acute hydrogen peroxide exposure on respiratory cilia motility and viability
Raw data from all experiments of this study. A total of 40 mice were used for this study. Trachea from 30 mice were used for microscopy assessment of cilia motility and cilia generated flow, where each trachea was cut into four sections and assigned to a different treatment/time group providing an n = 6 for each treatment (Sham or H2O2) at each time point (0, 30, 60, 120 min).
Role of innate and acquired resilience in behavioral system, mental health, and internet addiction among Japanese adolescents in the COVID-19 pandemic
Discussion This study examined a moderated mediation model to better understand the relationship between BIS/BAS and internet addiction. This model included mental health variables as mediators and innate and acquired resilience as moderator variables. As expected, the BAS-FS partially mediated the relationship between internet addiction and depressive symptoms.
Telomerase reverse transcriptase promotes angiogenesis in neonatal rats after hypoxic-ischemic brain damage
Conclusions Previous studies indicated that TERT promotes angiogenesis. This function has been tested for the case of stroke. Accordingly, we found that this was also true under the HIBD. In this study, overexpression of TERT promoted the proliferation of BMECs, formation of microvessels, and maintained BBB permeability in the brains of neonatal rats after HIBD. The underlining mechanism of this angiogenesis-promoting effect of TERT might be related with the Notch-1 signaling pathway.
