Intraocular pressure responses during maximal and submaximal handgrip strength tasks in primary open-angle glaucoma patients and healthy individuals
This study provides valuable insights into the IOP responsiveness of POAG patients to maximal and submaximal isometric handgrip strength tasks. Our findings reveal that IOP responses are comparable between POAG patients treated with hypotensive eye drops and healthy individuals, as the main effect of group and its interactions did not reach statistical significance. Notably, greater IOP values were observed for the maximal task compared to the submaximal task, regardless of group or gender.
Associations of the volume and proportion of vigorous-intensity physical activity with all-cause, cardiovascular, and cancer mortality: a systematic review and meta-analysis
This study is the first to investigate the association of VPA volume and proportion (relative to MVPA) with health outcomes by comprehensively analyzing results from large-scale studies with long-term follow-up. For the first purpose, we systematically evaluated the relationship between the volume of VPA and the risks of all-cause, CVD, and cancer mortality, and compared the effects of the highest volume (when the VPA volume was categorized into different levels) of VPA versus LMPA (no VPA).
Longitudinal analysis of step counts in Parkinson’s disease patients: insights from a web-based application and generalized additive model
Although numerous studies have concentrated on PD, there is a notable scarcity of investigations that delve into step counts of PD patients over extended periods. This limitation is primarily due to the large volume of daily data records required, making continuous follow-up challenging. Even in the extensive PPMI study, the number of participants in the healthy control group followed for up to two years remains limited compared to the PD groups, leading to imbalanced data between the two groups.
Associations between physical fitness, body composition, and heart rate variability during exercise in older people: exploring mediating factors
This study investigated the relationship between physical fitness, body fat percentage, and cardiac autonomic response to exercise in community-dwelling older people (aged: 71.5 ± 5.6). We elucidated the interplay between these factors and their implications for cardiac autonomic function during physical efforts through correlational and mediating analyses.
Exploring the mediating roles of physical literacy and mindfulness on psychological distress and life satisfaction among college students
The present study examined the simultaneous relationships among LVs of PL, mindfulness, psychological distress, and life satisfaction. The structural multiple-mediator model indicated an acceptable model fit, revealing five significant direct effects and two significant indirect effects. Additionally, 36% of the variation in life satisfaction, 36.6% of the variation in mindfulness, and 13.3% of the variation in PL could be explained by the structural multiple-mediator model simultaneously.
Sedentary patterns and health outcomes in the oldest-old: a latent profile analysis
This study examined person-centered profiles in the oldest-old (aged 80 years or more) using latent profile analysis (LPA), based on sedentary accumulation patterns and health outcomes, including physical and cognitive functioning, mental health-related QoL and feelings of social isolation.

Differences in lumbar spine intradiscal pressure between standing and sitting postures: a comprehensive literature review
In order to examine back load due to posture, this study analysed relative lumbar back load, expressed as the ratio between IP in any posture and IP in an upright standing position. The analysis showed differences not only between sitting and standing postures but also among the variety of sitting and standing positions.

Evidence of moderation effects in predicting active transport to school
Regular physical activity (PA) reduces risk of disease,1 improves mental health2 and extends life expectancy.3 Incorporating PA into everyday life is imperative especially for children to promote long-term active lifestyles lasting into adulthood4 and offset the general decline in PA that occurs at approximately 12 years old.5 However, only 21% of boys and 16% of girls aged 5–15 in the UK are meeting guidelines for recommended PA levels.6 Actively commuting to school (i.e. primarily walking...
Zoster vaccination is associated with a reduction of zoster in elderly patients with chronic kidney disease
Zoster is a major public health problem associated with significant morbidity, including prolonged, severe pain, namely post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN). PHN is usually defined as pain that persists for 3 months or greater following incident zoster [1]. The effective live zoster vaccine was introduced in the USA for immunocompetent individuals aged ?60 years [2]. Increasing epidemiological evidence supports an increased risk of zoster in individuals with chronic kidney disease (CKD) [3, 4].
