Lee Lee Lai

Lee Lai est née en 1993 près de Melbourne, en Australie. Elle vit actuellement à Montréal, où elle travaille aussi bien la bande dessinée que l’illustration. Le goût de la nectarine est son premier roman graphique, publié aux États-Unis chez Fantagraphics et en France chez Sarbacane.

Our prize readers were impressed with the stories on offer and choosing a shortlist was tricky business, and so we have selected ten stories in consideration for the winning spot.

In her newly reissued memoir, Other People’s Words, Hilary McPhee describes how Australian authors long wrote under the looming shadow of Britain. In 1975, with her friend Diana Gribble, she set about to help change this. The two women, then in their early thirties, launched a publishing house that achieved cult status with a stable of authors including Tim Winton, Helen Garner, Drusilla Modjeska and Gerald Murnane.
