Leicester Possibilities

Everton have distanced themselves from talk they are looking to sign Leicester City target Arthur Melo from Juventus this summer, according to The Athletic. Arthur spent last season at Fiorentina and Juventus are keen to move him on a permanent deal this summer. The Brazilian had a disastrous loan spell at Liverpool previously where he struggled for fitness before returning to Turin last year, but he wants to return to the Premier League.

Arsenal’s bid to bring in defender Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna is ‘proceeding well’, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is desperate to get his hands on the Italy centre-back, who again proved his quality at Euro 2024 with the Azzurri. A fee has been thrashed out with Bologna for Calafiori, but there have been complications arising to the fact that the defender’s former club FC Basel are to be owed 50 per cent of the fee.

Angelo Ogbonna has insisted he is not thinking about retirement in the wake of his exit from West Ham United. The 36-year-old centre-back departed the London Stadium earlier this summer when his contract with the Hammers expired. Ogbonna was on the books at West Ham from 2015 until this year and made close to 250 appearances for the Premier League club.
