Everyone can stand down now. You can get off the ledge and go back inside. Hug your kids. Hug your dog. All is right with the universe once again. Or at least the golf universe. Scottie Scheffler, after a seven-month eternity all but measured in dog years, has finally won another tournament. Scheffler didn't just win it, though. He obliterated an elite field in the first event of the PGA Tour playoffs, the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis, capturing the title by eight shots.

The the first of three FedExCup Playoff events takes place this week in Memphis where temperatures could extend into triple digits. Players will need to find a way to stay cool and make smart decisions around a very penal golf course. After 34 regular season events only the top 70 in the FedExCup Standings remain. After the FedEx St. Jude Championship only the top 50 will move onto the BMW Championship in St. Louis.

It was late July and Michael Brennan was winding down a pretty bad season, sitting outside the top 100 in the FedExCup Standings. However, when he entered the final round of the 3M Open tied for fourth, it was a real chance to erase months of underperforming, make up some serious ground and get into playoff position. Alas, he imploded on Sunday and tied for 24th. The next week, at the Rocket Classic, he impressively bounced right back. He was in second place after 54 holes.
