Creating bottom-up RNA transfer vehicles from synthetic protein assemblies
Abstract Evolution guides biological systems to populate ecological niches, with viruses among the most successful examples of this principle. Viruses evolved over billions of years to efficiently transfer genetic information. Although viruses are highly diverse, most have converged towards remarkable similarity in the size and shape of their capsids1,2. By contrast, generative models for protein design enable the creation of protein architectures that are absent from nature3,4,5.

Predicting cellular responses to complex perturbations in high‐throughput screens
Results Prior work has modeled the effects of perturbations on gene expression separate processes. While differential expression compares each condition separately with a control, modeling a joint latent space with a conditional variational autoencoder (Sohn et al, 2015; Lotfollahi et al, 2020; Russkikh et al, 2020) is highly uninterpretable and not amenable to the prediction of the effects of combinations of conditions.
[2306.17246] The power of motifs as inductive bias for learning molecular distributions
Machine learning for molecules holds great potential for efficiently exploring the vast chemical space and thus streamlining the drug discovery process by facilitating the design of new therapeutic molecules. Deep generative models have shown promising results for molecule generation, but the benefits of specific inductive biases for learning distributions over small graphs are unclear.
Predicting Cellular Responses to Novel Drug Perturbations at a Single-Cell Resolution
Keywords: single cell, perturbation, disentanglement, transfer learning, drug discovery, unsupervised, genomics TL;DR: We present a model for counterfactual modelling of perturbation responses for unseen drugs and evaluate a transfer learning scheme for improved generalisation in the single-cell setting. Abstract: Single-cell transcriptomics enabled the study of cellular heterogeneity in response to perturbations at the resolution of individual cells.
