Leonard Felson’s Biography
Leonard Felson writes about the extraordinariness of everyday life. His stories have appeared in Reader's Digest, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, Tablet Magazine, The Jerusalem Report, Connecticut Magazine, and elsewhere.
He was a staff writer for the Hartford Courant, America's oldest continuously published newspaper, before he turned to a life as a freelancer.
His career began in California, where he grew up in the late '60s and '70s of the Bay Area. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley as a history major. After a year working construction and property management for his dad in the East Bay, he got a job as a reporter for the Paso Robles, Calif. Daily Press, doing everything from the police beat to writing obits.
These days, he writes about old, industrial cities, including Hartford, Conn., where he lives; the Jewish world, which he's part of; and dramatic moments of transformation.
