This is what the start of your downswing should feel like
When working on your backswing, you have time to think about what you want to do, and you can even rehearse new movements or feels while you play. The downswing is a different story. It happens so fast, you really have to know what you're doing before you do it. “Shift to your left side for bigger drives.” The first move down into the ball is the part of the swing I've been working hard to improve. My backswing feels great.
Capturing the Invisible
How did you get started in photography? During my childhood and teens, all I did was draw, so it seemed quite obvious to me that I was going to be an illustrator. When I was eighteen years old, though, I started playing around in darkrooms, and that was my link into photography. It wasn’t the taking of the actual pictures that interested me, but what I could do with those negatives after I brought them into the darkroom.

19 Most Soothing Aftershaves For Men
Shaving is the punishment that was put on Earth for humankind to endure. As we attempt to curb our hirsute ways, we end up demolishing our skin, stripping our natural oils, slicing away our protection from the elements, and ridding our body of necessary moisturizing and protecting faculties. It leaves us feeling burned, ripped, and raw, with little we can do to ease the suffering that comes from scraping a steel blade across our sweet meat.
9 Symbols We've Been Using All Wrong
When you see a man in a tie-dyed shirt, with a peace sign peeling off of it, you instantly know something about him and the counter culture with which he associates, but you might be surprised to learn that the design on his tattered tee wouldn’t even exist if not for nuclear arms. When you meet under the mistletoe at the block party and finally get to plant one on your attractive neighbor, do you think of the corpses of Norse gods?
The 16 Most Rollicking Rums for Refined Drinkers
Rum has a far more storied history than any other spirit, yet for every ten bottles of rye or scotch you find on the shelves of your local liquor mart, you’ll often only be able to put your hand to one jug of rum. Usually the rum shelf is Bacardi, some spiced Captain Morgans, and a little Malibu, just for color. They completely ignore the nuances of the liquor, shunting black straps and agricoles to the side. Hiding their soleras and refusing to stock even a single, single-estate rum.
18 Best Soaps for Dirty Dudes, Filthy Fellas, and Grubby Gents
Gentlemen, it’s a crime, the things we do to our skin. We’ll wash our clothes in the finest artisanal cleansers out there and find exotic plants to shove into our shampoo, but when it comes to washing the face we use to face the world, we’ll use whatever caustic bar of chemicals happens to be lying around. Skin requires care to help it shine, and a proper mixture of materials to sluff off the dirt and dead layers.
Get Comfy in the 16 Bossest Robes For Lazing About
You can get by with any pair of ratty sweatpants and a hoodie if you’re looking to lounge around the house, but doing it right, doing it in style, and doing it with the utmost comfort means gearing up properly. We think that true comfort just happens, that sloth is not a serious undertaking worthy of our attention.
16 Of The Best Pomades For Men
A man is only as good as his hair. That’s why the balding are forever shunted to the margins of society, left to scavenge for scraps, and live in shantytowns, cannibalizing unwary travelers. Those men who are fortunate enough to keep their hair, or those who have not yet shown the moral weakness and poor positive thinking that causes balding must celebrate their good fortune with style. In this case, literal style is applicable, as an unruly mop is nearly as bad as having no hair at all.
Best Computer Chairs for Sitting Pretty
Human beings were made to move, to act, to run and jump and skip – or whatever the manly version of skipping is: mosey? – not sit all day staring at screens. The problem is when we have all of existence at our fingertips, and millions of cat videos to get through before we even talk about all the Netflix series we have to bingewatch, we don’t want to go capering about like some loon.
21 Brutal, Mysterious Serial Killers Who Escaped Justice
The truth about murder is that about 1/3 of all killings go unsolved in the United States alone. In poorer nations, and those with totalitarian governments where human life is especially cheap, that number jumps dramatically. While movies and television would have you believe that it only takes an hour or two of attractive people making inquiries to bring a butcher to justice, the facts don’t line up with that scenario.
18 Drowsiest Insomnia Cures for Racing Minds
Insomnia might not be comparable to torture, but anyone who suffers with it would often take a few hours of pain over night after night of chronic sleeplessness. It turns the world into a sandy-eyed hellscape where it’s hard to care about anything, hard to do anything, and even activities you enjoy become arduous slogs that you endure.
How To Be Cool In 17 Simple Steps
There’s only one thing in life that matters, and that’s being damn cool. Money, power, prestige, looks, clothes, language, and happiness are all window dressing we use to help us be cooler. Scarface was only partly right when he said “…when you get the money, you get the power. Then when you get the power, then you get the women.” Sure, but then you get cool. Here’s how it shakes out: None of us “need” a double-breasted pinstripe suit. None of us “need” a supercar. We want them because they’re cool.
39 Insane Museums That Actually Exist for Some Reason
There’s never a shortage of weird in the world. All one needs to do is walk the streets to see any number of completely insane acts perpetrated by ordinary people. Twinkies are a perfect example of how outrageous the ordinary has become. It’s a hunk of pseudo-food that we consume as if it has any relationship with normal edibles whatsoever, when in fact it has more in common with your average hiking boot than with a nutritional meal.
People Are Horrible: 26 Medieval Torture Devices That Suck
While there’s nothing awesome about torture, the creativity and ingenuity that people have managed to use when it comes to hurting each other — particularly back in the bad old days when you couldn’t just go out and get some jumper cables and a car battery to strap to someone’s nipples – is pretty incredible. Not only could they cause pain, but they often played on psychological fears, showing that even in the dark ages, the study of the mind was alive and well.
12 Conversation Tactics For Surviving Thanksgiving Dinner
Thanksgiving is always a rough time of year, with the holiday stress in full bloom as well as family, alcohol, and baggage on display. This year is especially tough with the upcoming downfall of the western world and the contentious results of the election.
32 Funniest Phobias and Fears, Just To Make You Feel Better
We’re all afraid of something. Spiders, the government, clowns, the clowns in government, commitment; and while all fears are valid, there’s a few out there that are pretty hilarious. Though it’s wrong to mock someone in the throes of terror, unless they’re making a really amusing face, the ability to laugh at a strange fright is helpful to the healing process, since even sufferers often admit that these deep-seated anxieties often come from a place that’s as much amusing as it is abhorrent.
19 Best Down Jackets to Feather Up for Winter
Science is forever trying to catch nature. Look at the feathers on ducks and geese. For all the brilliant methods of insulation humankind has devised, we still don’t have anything that allows us to survive in freezing temperatures day after day, drift on icy water, survive blizzards, and still be light enough that we can soar on the capricious winds.
Should You Shave Your Head: Looking Good Hairless
The shaved head isn’t a new look, but rather one that has come into vogue in recent years. While it was once abhorred because it denoted illness, rebelliousness, and was associated with white supremacy, those tired notions have mostly fallen by the wayside, leaving all guys the option to shear down to the scalp. Taking this bold step can be a big swing, and shouldn’t be gone into lightly.
27 Creative Pumpkin Carving Design Ideas For Halloween
Any kid with a blade can make a grinning rictus on a jack-o-lantern, but it’s going to end up looking like every other gourd on the block. There’s a few thousand gourd grids and stencils you can print out if you fancy a standard face or a few words, but if you’re looking to go above and beyond with an idea that will turn heads and ensure your home sticks out, then we’ve got the solution. The trick to a memorable pumpkin carving isn’t always about complexity.
Simple Sips: The 17 Best Scotch Whiskies Under $100
There’s two kinds of people in the world: Those who love scotch and those who are dead inside. We can’t help the latter, but for those who take their drinking seriously, but aren’t seeking to spend a fortune on every bottle – or even those who prefer to keep the good stuff to themselves while giving affordable spirits to their freeloading guests – we did the legwork and the rehab.
17 Wild Cold Weather Sports Everyone Must Try Once
A few fallen leaves and a little frost shouldn’t stop the serious competitor from getting out there and beating some fools into submission. Cold weather isn’t a hindrance to the world of sport, it merely adds an environmental obstacle into the mix that can turn the tide for anyone who knows how to use it to their advantage.
The 18 Best Electric Guitars for Rockers of All Levels
Is it going to be impossible to say what the absolute premier guitars are for every player, and any strummer under the sun? Hell yes. We’re still in an argument with the guy two doors down over whether Tom Petty’s Gibson SG is better than Slash’s Les Paul 1959 replica from Kris Derrig (it is). Our purpose here is to capture the axes that we think are ideal for you to buy right this second.
Torchbearers: 17 EDC Flashlights Built To Save Lives
The common mistake with flashlights is the belief that they are just for illuminating the dark. That’s a tiny fraction of their job. Point of fact, a good EDC flashlight is a tactical tool, a self-defense item, a beacon for emergencies, a compatriot in a fight, and a life-saving window breaker. Why Carry an EDC FlashlightNearly every smartphone on the market today has a flashlight built right in, and that’s plenty for ordinary use.
Picking The Right Suit Colors To Go With Your Skin
However clean cut and well-tailored the fit of your suit, if it’s the wrong color for your complexion, it’s going to end up wearing you. Going into a corporate meeting looking washed-out, sickly, spray-tanned, flushed, or downright undead is a sure-fire way to get all the wrong kind of attention. Conversely, showing up to the ball in a basic black like an average cog isn’t going to let you stand out from the crowd.
Cheap Thrills: 19 Exceptional Off-Season Travel Destinations
The lie that tourism boards want you to believe is that off-peak travel is somehow worse. That you’ll endure endless storms and be stuck sitting around an empty cabana with nothing to do as you listen to hurricanes tear up the beach outside as you drink endless Hurricanes just to feel like you’re on vacation.
13 Indoor Exercises For Workouts With Minimal Equipment
Swimming in the ocean, running our favorite trail, paddleboarding, kayaking, going to the archery range, yoga on the beach, and just taking a light jog through the park are all excellent workouts that are completely destroyed when the weather really goes to hell on a segway. If you’re like us, a snow day can suck all the fun out of your workout.
23 Best Fall Cocktails Without The Words 'Pumpkin Spice'
Turning leaves, cooler temperatures, and a proliferation of the use of Nutmeg in everything can only mean one thing: autumn has officially sprung. As the days get shorter and we fall inexorably toward the cold winter days, there is only one solution for curing the onset of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD); drink heavily.
The Art of Burning Man: 22 Works of Flaming Fantasy
Burning Man is more than 30 years old, and the counter-culture phenomenon in Black Rock desert has undeniably gone mainstream. That isn’t to say it’s bad. As an art show first and foremost, an ever larger, more diverse crowd of Burners adds more work into the mix. With time marching on, increasing levels of inspiration, satire, beauty, and madness have been put on display then burned to the ground.
25 Excellent New Cars Under $25,000
Buying a new car is a nightmare for most of us. We always go over our budget, have to cope with the aggressive salespeople just to get a test drive, and then fall in love with a ride we have to walk away from because it’s missing one key component. It’s more frustrating than prom night and can feel to most like choosing from an impossible array of beautiful options.
Double Breasted Suit Guide: 16 Rules to Pull It Off
Mafioso bosses, cocky day traders, and arrogant Maître D’s all have one thing in common: They’ve all been stereotyped as wearers of double-breasted suits. While this notoriously buttoned-up style somehow was put into a category of severe formality and rigidity, the truth is that DB suits actually started life as a piece of casual menswear that was not allowed as business attire because it was too laid back.
How to Wear a Suit Without a Tie [Guide]
There’s no fashion accessory more ridiculous than a tie. As men, we walk around all day with an arrow that points directly to our crotch. Or, if we go with a bow tie, it points at our ears and nipples. On top of that, should we get into one of those manful brawls where we have to tune up some sucker for eyeballin’ us, or deal with an aggressive boss, we’ve just put a garrotte around our necks. That’s no way to live a life.
The 30 Best Action Movies for Men of the Modern Age
Action films are for every gender under the sun, since quality excitement doesn’t care what kind of tackle you’ve got. That’s actually the point we’re making here. The reason we decided to offer up the best action films for guys is to help educate gentlemen on the variety of quality action out there that goes above and beyond testosterone-soaked machismo. These are action movies for the modern man, not the neanderthals of yesteryear.
15 Beard Styles to Wear With Honor
A respectable chin wig is the height, the peak, the apex of manhood, and anyone that tells you otherwise is lying right to your sweet, thatched face. Sure, women often complain about them, they tend to itch, and good luck eating anything without having to then dig detritus of it out of your bitchin’ whiskers, but beards are still worthy of our love.
28 Words You Should Use to Avoid Sounding Like Everyone Else
Words. They’re all around us. They’re the sole way we have of understanding and conveying ideas, of comprehending others, of reaching out to other humans and touching them, moving them, and changing them. Words more than anything are what differentiate the human animal from the ones in the forest. You may even be seeing words right now.
20 Life Memes That Will Change Everything in a Few Seconds
We’re busy people who have to be on our hustle from the moment our feet hit the floor until our head hits the pillow. We’ve got work to do, family to ignore, Game of Thrones episodes to watch, and that’s before we even get into our DVR backlog. Then we have to do some killing in Overwatch, write a 40 paragraph tirade on Amazon about the movie “Teen Witch,” and stuff down some egg McMuffins while mainlining Diet Dr. Pepper. There just isn’t time to be philosophical between cat videos.
18 Incredible Weapons of History that Made Warfare Weird
If human beings are blessed with one gift, it’s the ability to devise new and fascinating ways of killing each other. Were our ingenuity when it came to curing disease half as amazing – and terrifying – as our capacity for warfare, we’d never have to fear illness again. While it’s easy to see this as a sad fact, it’s our bailiwick to lay waste to one another, as well as the planet, and we can be proud that we do that very well.
Prevent Fatigue With 12 Office Desk Stretches
Sitting is killing us. Independent studies done by multiple reputable medical bodies have indicated that long periods of sitting – defined as sitting for more than 4 hours a day – increases the risk of high blood pressure, obesity, heart disease, angina, and high blood sugar. Individuals who logged more than 8 hours of couch time each day also have and estimated 50% greater risk of dying from any causes than those who moved around.

Ricky Gervais's GQ Interview: The Comedy Issue
Just for creating The Office, his comedy-god status can never be revoked—and his career has only mushroomed since. But the bigger Ricky Gervais gets, the harder it's becoming to tell if he's still sending up rich, self-important celebrities or turning into one. (In his forthcoming Netflix comedy, he plays an uplifting simpleton. Yikes.) Gervais, for his part, says not to worry.
