It seems like every few months a new multiplayer shooter comes along. More often than not they’re unremarkable carbon copies of each other. It too often feels like studios are scared of anything new or novel, content to simply ride the current trends and lose themselves in a sea of competitors. Midnight Murder Club, at least, does something different. Taking cues from the likes of Agatha Christie, Ready or Not, or Cluedo, this game is a breath of fresh air in an increasingly crowded genre.

I’m going to start this review by ripping off the band-aid. If you didn’t like the first Death Stranding, you’re unlikely to enjoy Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Recommended Videos Got it? Good. Death Stranding 2 starts eleven months after the original ended. Sam and Lou are living off-grid when Sam is convinced to do one last job for his friend, Fragile. In classic video game fashion, a personal tragedy turns that job into an epic quest to expand the chiral network.

Infinity Nikki is an odd game. In a sense, it’s exactly what we need in the industry. There’s a very real risk, if we focus entirely on what sells best, that the only games developed will become carbon copies of each other. Instead, Infinity Nikki is an open-world game with a lot of similarities to things like Breath of the Wild, albeit if wearing the right frilly dress gave Link the ability to float.
