In praise of the millennial dad
By the school gates. At swimming lessons. In NCT classes, soft play centres and the baby aisle at Tesco. Everywhere millennial mums gather, millennial dads are there too. Often wearing the now-ubiquitous baby sling (the one that so bizarrely offended Piers Morgan and his perception of masculinity) we arrive armed with the ever-expanding paraphernalia of modern parenting. Travel potties, sun cream, scooters, snacks, spare clothes and water bottles. Sometimes multiple water bottles.
Why we love pubs
Politicians are squeezing pubs out of existence without understanding why they matter Labour Housing and Communities minister Steve Reed wants to save pubs. There’s a “war on fun,” he says. It’s nothing to do with his party, of course, and he’s doing something about it. Man-about-town Steve has the answer. He knows what makes pubs tick. He’s going to tweak licensing laws so the lads at his local can have Traitors “viewing parties”. Sorted, then.
Make Englishmen’s homes their castles again
Buildings extensions must not be made unaffordable In a business-park office in Milton Keynes, early in 2024, someone at the National House Builders Council (NHBC) clicked a mouse, and extending a home jumped in price by tens of thousands of pounds for many Brits. The NHBC Standards 2024, in force for foundations started from 1 January 2024, were followed later in the year by the enticingly named BS 5837.
Winning elections is not enough for Reform
The party must prepare itself for an assault on its legitimacy An authoritarian power grab. Constitutional vandalism. The dismantling of checks and balances. A threat to the economy. Echoes of Putin. A descent into fascism, even. This is how Nigel Farage’s legislative agenda will be portrayed — and undermined. None of it will be true, of course.
The real scandal behind Sadiq’s 20mph speed limits
Four more years of Sadiq Khan’s London – as voters have just chosen – means four more years of ideology before evidence. The Mayor’s “Vision Zero” plan commits the city to a series of policies ostensibly to eliminate every single traffic death and serious injury – a feat never achieved in any city on earth. And we’re only just beginning to see what enforcement of such a comprehensive, utopian, coddling vision looks like for London.
The liturgy of ESG
“This was not a political decision, but one centred around inclusivity and purpose,” Coutts Bank said after the publication of 40 pages of intensely political reasoning for parting ways with its customer, Nigel Farage. This nonsense statement was largely discarded, even by the progressive media. People generally know politics when we see it. For a long time, though, this type of Orwellian double-speak has held water in business settings.
In defence of centrist dads
I don’t believe in “centrism”. I believe in winning. If you have values, you should want them to prevail, not dissolve in a centrist soup of convenience and confected consensus. The “Third Way” didn’t, ultimately, bring about unity or moderation. It served only those who got to define what the consensus was — mostly the hyper-liberal social values and rampant free market economics of wealthy urbanites. But there is a lot, I think, to be said for the “Centrist Dads” of politics.
The dangerous rise of climate censorship
Six retweets. That is all the censorship campaign, Stop Funding Heat, needed to have a series of articles taken down by a major British news website and erased from the web. The activists also extracted a groveling apology from the paper’s editor, who promised not only to join the campaign, but also implied his journalists would stop reporting negatively on their cause and would no longer hold them to account.
David Attenborough’s anti-human miserabilism
A Perfect Planet presents humanity as a plague. Share Topics Culture Politics UK Our planet is wonderful, but it sure isn’t A Perfect Planet, as the title of David Attenborough’s latest BBC spectacular declares. To claim so is a statement of blind faith, not an observation grounded in reality. And the fact this is the central rhetorical claim of Attenborough’s latest programme is startlingly revealing, as well as misleading. The planet is chaotic, mostly, and, to our eyes, sometimes cruel.
Support for Mayor Khan Crashes After Summer of Violence
The London Mayor’s approval rating has slumped to its lowest level on record after a summer of surging violence in the capital, crashing to just a fifth of its previous level earlier in the year. Sadiq Khan’s personal ratings plummeted from +22 in May this year to just +4 this month, according to a YouGov poll for Queen Mary University of London.
Covid alarmism has done more harm than good
Journalists seem to think it is their job to terrorise the public on behalf of the government. Share Topics Politics Science & Tech UK Broadcast journalists are utterly apocalyptic about Covid-19. They are very good at delivering negative news and government justifications for lockdown. But we rarely hear about positive developments or reasons to question our collective house arrest. The written press has been a little more diverse.
Calm down about Harry Styles in a dress
The popstar’s cross-dressing is not an attack on men and masculinity. Share Topics Culture Politics UK Harry Styles looked awesome in that dress. Seriously, many have tried it before but he really did pull it off. Yet how, in 2020, when every major corporation and government support this kind of ‘rebellion’, does it still come across as edgy?
Journalism is not a charity case
The idea of the third sector deciding what journalism deserves funding is worrying. Share Topics Free Speech Politics UK The UK’s Charity Commission has granted charitable status to the Public Interest News Foundation (PINF), an organisation that supports what it calls ‘public interest’ journalism. The PINF will thus be able to provide grants to news outlets that it deems are producing content ‘in the public interest’. I am sure those backing this move are doing so with the best of intentions.
Giving straight white men all the best jobs isn’t always good news
Why should we expect BBC lifer Tim Davie to end BBC bias or high pay? It is good of Tim Davie, the new BBC Director General, to have admitted so soon into the job what executives there so often deny (and which BBC loyalists outside the corporation hysterically denounce as being proto-fascism, when right-wingers or Brexiteers make this accusation). Which is that it has a chronic problem with bias, and, too many staff are paid too much.
Australia vs the tech giants
Can Australia take on the most powerful and wealthy global companies in the world? The Pacific nation is currently squaring up to the Californian tech giants, demanding that they, finally, pay journalists for their work which they display, aggregate and host. The outcome could define the future of the Bucks Free Press and the Cumberland and Westmorland Herald – as well as the entire global newspaper industry, upon which Western democracy relies.
Big Tech Is Suppressing Science to Advance Covid Narrative
Social-media platforms are cracking down on anyone who challenges the Covid narrative.
Big Tech is suppressing science
The coronavirus crisis, I fear, is being used as cover for potentially the most dangerous escalation in Big Tech’s campaign of censorship yet. Several platforms now seem to have declared themselves above the scientific process itself. They have lost faith in free and open inquiry and appear to be trying to mediate the most pressing (and increasingly contentious) scientific question of our time.
We need to ‘take back control’ of the internet
A new EU directive will censor video streaming and the UK government is still determined to regulate social media. Share Topics Free Speech Politics Theresa May’s ‘online harms’ agenda made a comeback this week. A new select-committee report tries to capitalise on widespread fear of the coronavirus in order to advance this censorious programme, which was not expected to be implemented until 2023. A barely noticed Ofcom report released last week is even more concerning.
What should we do about the tech giants?
We can rein in the Facebook / Google duopoly without regulating users’ speech. Share Topics Free Speech Politics Science & Tech Yet another government report, this time from the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), has called on lawmakers to regulate the internet and big tech.
Freeing politics from the grip of 'the lobby'
No10's plan for daily televised briefings shatters the hold a clique of political journalists have had over British politics. Share Topics Politics UK The UK government is to begin White House-style daily televised news briefings. A government spokesperson, yet to be named, will speak directly to the nation via a livestream, which can be accessed by everyone, rather than just a club of elite ‘lobby journalists’ in behind-closed-door meetings.
Can the BBC survive the internet?
Online has the power to free news and commentary from the grip of the media class. Share Topics Culture Free Speech Politics UK Times Radio entered our airwaves this week, and many are asking if it could help aid the demise of the BBC’s stranglehold over British broadcasting. I think it will, but I also think this is the wrong question. Broadcasting is shifting from the radio spectrum, which is crowded and overregulated, to the internet, with online connectivity always improving.
The BBC should drop the faux impartiality
The bias of broadcasters is plain to see. It is dishonest for them to pretend otherwise. Share Topics Politics UK Another day and another impartiality and balance controversy at the BBC. One controversy at the weekend was over a reporter’s claim that a police officer at the Black Lives matter demo ‘knocked herself off her horse’. The BBC reported the clashes as ‘largely peaceful’ despite 27 police officers sustaining injuries, leading to accusations that it had played down the clashes.
Why I won't be clapping for the NHS
“Religions and faiths are based on conviction supported by censorship, rather than knowledge backed by evidence.” According to the 19th century French sociologist Émile Durkheim, religion is an expression of social solidarity.
NIGEL FARAGE BRINGS BREXIT PARTY RALLIES TO WATFORD, CORNWALL, AND WESTMINSTER THIS OCTOBER
NIGEL FARAGE BRINGS BREXIT PARTY RALLIES TO WATFORD, CORNWALL, AND WESTMINSTER THIS OCTOBER The Brexit Party has announced a series of rallies in the lead up to the October 31st Brexit deadline. Nigel Farage will headline all the events – in Watford, Camborne, and the Queen Elizabeth Centre in the heart of Westminster – under the slogan We Are Ready.
London’s Met Police Won't Investigate Minor Crime, Only ‘Hate Crime’
London’s Metropolitan Police force will not bother to investigate crimes if officers are required to watch CCTV for more than 20 minutes or there is no footage available. The UK’s largest force will also drop investigations into thousands of lower-level offences and ignore certain crimes such as vandalism, vehicle crime, and fuel theft if damages do not exceed £50.
UK Imam: War is Coming, Muslims Can Take Women As Sex Slaves
An Imam has told his congregation in Wales that war is approaching and Islam allows them to take women as slaves and rape them. Ali Hammuda is an Imam at Cardiff’s Al-Manar Mosque, where three Islamic State (IS) fighters worshipped before travelling to Syria. They were known as the “Cardiff jihadis” before one was killed in an RAF drone strike as he was thought to be plotting attacks in the UK.
Councillors Say Segregated Bradford 'Heading for Disaster': Synagogues and Pubs Attacked, Women Threatened
Areas of Bradford, England, are No Go Zones for certain ethnic groups and the city is “heading toward disaster,” councillors have warned, citing attacks on a synagogue and white businesses in ‘Asian’ areas. Bradford Council’s Corporate Overview and Scrutiny Committee chairman Arshad Hussain slammed ethnic segregation and failed integration, and blamed political correctness for making the situation worse.
London Police Mull Armed Officers in Gang Areas
London’s Metropolitan Police are considering sending visibly armed officers on patrol in gang-plagued residential areas, amidst the city’s on-going violent crime wave. The move is almost unprecedented on mainland Britain, excluding Northern Ireland during the conflict years, with the Metropolitan Police previously restricting patrols with visible firearms to high profile areas at risk of a terror attack, such as the Palace of Westminster, Whitehall, and Buckingham Palace.
Child Knife Deaths Set to Be Highest in Nine Years, Reveals Hidden Data
This year is likely to be the worst in nearly a decade for children killed by knife attacks, with 35 already murdered in 2018. There hasn’t been such a deadly 12 months for children since 2008, when 42 young people aged 19 and under were killed in knife attacks, official data reported by The Guardian reveals. The newspaper claims the figures had not been made public before and that it took a 10-month negotiation with the Home Office and 45 police forces to obtain the sensitive information.

Britain’s prime minister and leader of the opposition, who both opposed Brexit in the 2016 referendum, have agreed to a live TV debate on the exit arrangements for leaving the European Union (EU).
'A Remainer Debating a Remainer': May and Corbyn Agree Brexit TV Clash
Britain’s prime minister and the leader of the opposition, both of whom opposed Brexit in the 2016 referendum, have agreed to a live TV debate on the exit arrangements for leaving the European Union (EU). Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn will clash on Sunday, December 9th, at around 8 pm. It will be filmed in Birmingham and feature a live panel and questions from social media, the BBC said. Mrs May has accepted the invitation from the BBC.
Farage Tells EU May’s Deal Will Fail in Parliament, Demands New Deal
Nigel Farage has told the European Parliament that Theresa May’s deal “will fail in Parliament and probably fail by a very big margin,” calling it a terrible deal for the UK. Addressing the bloc’s chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier directly in the chamber, the former UKIP leader blasted: “You say that this is the only possible deal, but this deal isn’t going to be accepted.
London Viral Video Knife Attacker Escapes Jail
A man filmed attacking a car with a large ‘zombie knife’ on a London street has been spared jail, sparking outrage and leading to the case being referred to the Attorney General. Terrifying footage filmed on May 30th of Joshua Gardner, then 17, smashing up a car using the sword-like weapon in broad daylight on a busy street in Croydon, south London, spread on social media and shocked the nation.
Project Fear: Chancellor Claims Brexit Will Harm Economy
Theresa May’s anti-Brexit Chancellor has followed in the footsteps of his predecessor George Osborne, predicting Brexit will do damage to the UK economy.
Bank of England Claims Massive Brexit Crash
Governor Mark Carney said Theresa May’s exit plan would also damage the economy, but a “no deal” Brexit free from all EU rules and regulation would be a “worst-case scenario.” He said the bank’s assessment, conducted on request of the Government, found that in the eventuality of a ‘No Deal’ with no “transition period,” there would be sudden tariff barriers and border problems “for some time.” The doomsday prophesies also claimed the pound would fall by 25 per cent; by 2023, GDP will be 10 per...
Muslim Child Rape Gangs Targeted Sikh Girls for Decades, Police Frozen by ‘Political Correctness’
Gangs of predominantly Muslim men have been grooming and raping British Sikh girls for decades, with police often ignoring signs because of political correctness, according to a bombshell report.
Muslim Men Targeted Sikh Girls for Decade
Gangs of predominantly Muslim men have been grooming and raping British Sikh girls for decades, with police often ignoring signs because of political correctness, according to a bombshell report. The study by the Sikh Mediation and Rehabilitation Team alleges that young Sikh women have been “targeted” by men of Muslim faith who subjected them to sexual abuse.
Farage Launches New Brexit Rebellion
“Mr Brexit” Nigel Farage has launched a fresh attack on the prime minister’s Brexit deal, encouraging voters to reject it. The campaign, backed by prominent pro-Brexit MPs and campaigners, comes as Theresa May sets off on a tour of the UK to sell her deal to the people, which she hopes will pressure MPs in Parliament into voting for it.
Parliamentary Report Calls for 'Islamophobia' to Be Classed as Racism
A group of British Parliamentarians have demanded “Islamophobia” be officially classed as a form of racism in the UK, claiming the country is deeply prejudiced and unfair towards Muslims. The new parliamentary report blames “prevalent” Islamophobia for divisions, hate crimes, and even terror attacks.
Appeaser Theresa: Back My Brexit Deal or It’s ‘Back to Square One’
The Prime Minister is to threaten MPs that they must support and vote for her Brexit proposals or face going “back to square one,” appearing to repeat claims Brexit could not happen at all.
Back Brexit Deal or It's 'Back to Square One'
The Prime Minister is to threaten British Members of Parliament that they must support and vote for her Brexit proposals or face going “back to square one,” appearing to repeat claims Brexit could not happen at all if they rebel. The ultimatum will form part of an aggressive two-week campaign launched today to save her Brexit deal, The Times reports, aiming to push through her increasingly unpopular deal and save her premiership.
Major UK City Slashes FGM Measures, 95 Percent Crash in Referrals
Bristol Council has deliberately rolled back attempts to tackle Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), leading to a 95 percent crash in the number of referrals, after claims they were “over-policing” the Somali community. An FGM safeguarding group for the city – England’s tenth-largest – which works with the council and police altered guidelines for referring girls suspected of being at risk of the grim practice this summer, Bristol Live reports.
Another Iranian Migrant Boat Arrives in Kent, England
Eight more suspected illegal migrants have been picked up near the Kent coast, meaning almost 80 people have arrived during an “explosion” in sea crossing this month. Her Majesty’s Coastguard contacted the Border Force after the latest migrant boat was sighted at about 7 a.m. on Friday morning, near Dover, and the boat was intercepted. All eight on board were men and presented as Iranians, as have the vast majority of other recent boat arrivals.
May Will Not Resign if Her Brexit Deal Is Rejected in Parliament
Theresa May has repeatedly refused to say she will resign as prime minister if her Brexit deal fails in the House of Commons.
PM Won't Resign if Brexit Deal Rejected
Theresa May has repeatedly refused to say she will resign as prime minister if her Brexit deal fails in the House of Commons. Mrs May declined to say whether or not would step aside if MPs reject her Brexit proposals in an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live on Friday. “As I’m sitting here, I’m not thinking about me. I’m thinking about getting a deal through that delivers for the people of this country,” she responded.
UKIP Divided as Farage Slams 'Shameful' Tommy Robinson Appointment
“Nigel Farage is right”, a senior party source told Breitbart Friday after the former UKIP boss said he was “appalled” by the party’s current leader appointing activist Tommy Robinson as an adviser, calling for Gerard Batten to be ousted and for a renewed focus on Brexit. Under Mr Farage’s leadership, UKIP went to lengths to exclude and ban all former members of the English Defence League (EDL), who were known for rowdy street protests, and the openly racist British National Party (BNP).

The foreign secretary told the prime minister her Brexit deal was a “Turkey trap”, risking locking the UK in negotiations with the European Union (EU) for more than 30 years, just like Turkey.
Foreign Secretary Blasted May's Brexit Deal
Britain’s Foreign Secretary told the Prime Minister her Brexit deal was a “Turkey trap”, risking locking the UK in negotiations with the European Union (EU) for more than 30 years, just like Turkey has been. The phrase used by Jeremy Hunt – usually worded “turkey shoot” – can also mean an easily set trap or conflict in which the aggressor has an overwhelming advantage.
Thousands Sign Petition Demanding Schools Stop Serving Halal Meat
More than 4,000 people have signed a local petition demanding an end to schools serving Sharia law-compliant “non-stun” halal meat “without the knowledge or consent of the majority of pupils and parents”. In October, a Freedom of Information request by the National Secular Society found Kirklees Council supplied the halal meat to 40 schools with thousands of pupils, many of whom are not Muslim.
Banned Islamist ‘Hate Preacher’ Still Broadcasts to Millions in UK
An Indian “hate preacher” who has called on Muslims to be terrorists is broadcasting his “personal” TV channel to millions of UK homes, despite being banned from the country. Zakir Naik’s Peace TV is available to Sky subscribers, despite having previously been found in breach of broadcasting rules and Mr Naik being barred from entering the UK back in 2010, a report by the Henry Jackson Society highlighted this week.
