Abstract The skin is highly vulnerable to oxidative stress caused by excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS), which drives skin aging and inflammatory disorders. The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is critical for modulating cutaneous oxidative stress, yet natural compounds targeting ECS remain poorly understood. Hydroxylpurpurin, a natural anthraquinone from Rubia cordifolia L., has potent antioxidant activity, but its mechanism against skin oxidative injury is unclear.
