What was your first job as a journalist?

My school newspaper: USC's The Daily Trojan

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes.

How is social media changing news?

For the worst.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

With a hook already fleshed out in the pitch that I can take to my editors.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Apple laptop, Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, search engines.

Why did you become a journalist?

Because I loved, and love, music.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

No.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

"Tech is Music to Their Ears" for the Los Angeles Times.

When's the best time to pitch you?

If it's on email, which it should be, it doesn't matter.

What's your favorite drink?

Water.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

In front of a different monitor: the television.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

That I pitch the stories I write about. My writing is over 90% brought to me by my editors.
