Hello! Yesterday marked the 40th anniversary of my family moving to Los Angeles. Growing up, we moved around a lot because of my father’s job, living in different parts of the world and returning to Iran between his assignments. It’s why I was born in Washington, D.C. The plan always was for me and my sister, Leila, to attend college in the United States. We were in Iran between assignments when the Islamic Revolution happened.

Hello! Remember the days of catalogs? I love a catalog. Sears was the big one. When I was at Tehran American School in the ‘70s, my teachers had one of those that they shared between all of them. I would hear them talk about it all the time asking who had it and who was going to get it next. If I got my hands on it, I think my brain would have melted. In the ‘90s, like everyone, the Victoria’s Secret catalog mysteriously ended up in my mailbox. I bought a ton of stuff from them, but not underwear.
