Your Biggest Succession Risk Isn’t in the C-Suite
Most talent review processes are built around a trigger: someone announces they are leaving. That’s the problem. By the time the departure is visible, the readiness gap has already been forming for years. And if your organization is like most, that gap is not sitting at the top of the house. It’s sitting one or two levels below it. The talent review process — the structured exercise HR calls a “talent review” and the board calls “succession planning” — gets the C-suite right and the VP layer wrong.
The 2026 Guide to Career Pathing for Building Skilled Workforces
Career pathing has become a critical workforce practice across industries, especially those that rely on skilled, certified and field-based employees. As organizations face shifting skills and an aging workforce, the ability to help employees see a future inside the company has become a business imperative. Career pathing provides a structured way for employees to understand how they can grow, what skills matter most and how increased capability connects to business needs.
Why Your 2026 Plan Lives or Dies on Performance Management
Performance management has long been viewed as a tedious task — a set of forms to be filled out, filed, and revisited at year-end. For leaders trying to do more with less, that process won’t carry organizations through 2026. The companies that succeed will be those that treat performance management as the foundation for succession planning, compensation, and workforce planning. Traditional performance reviews were built for a slower era.
The Skills Gap Crisis: How HR Can Build a Future-Ready Workforce with AI and Strategy
The HR Challenge: Bridging the Skills Gap for a Future-Ready Workforce Every HR leader knows the pain of skills gaps. You have ambitious business goals, but the workforce cannot execute them. The result? Missed opportunities, stalled innovation, and an increased reliance on expensive external hiring. Yet, the solution isn’t just about hiring more people. It’s about optimizing and developing your talent—aligning workforce skills with business strategy while fostering internal career growth.
Unlocking Employee Potential: The Power of Skill-Based Learning in the Corporate World
The need for a skilled and proficient workforce is paramount. Businesses prioritizing employee development are better equipped to adapt to changes, boost productivity, and maintain a competitive edge. One of the most effective strategies for achieving this is through skill-based learning. Skill-based learning focuses on enhancing specific competencies, whether technical or soft skills, to improve employee proficiency levels.
The Benefits of Skills Alignment in the Workplace
It’s no secret that an effective workforce is crucial to the success of any business. But what many companies fail to realize is that their employees often possess skills that they aren’t taking advantage of. By aligning an employee’s skills with their job responsibilities, companies can reap a number of benefits. In this blog post we’ll explore the advantages of effectively utilizing employee skills in the workplace and explain the process of skill alignment.
Essential Steps for Ensuring Accuracy in Generative AI Skill Taxonomies
Generative AI (Artificial Intelligence) has gained massive popularity and use across industries due to its potential to solve complex problems and improve processes. The growing demand for generative AI has led to the development of new, more sophisticated algorithms that continue to push the limits of what is possible and where it can be applied. As more and more industries adopt generative AI, it is clear that this technology will continue to revolutionize the way we live and work.
How Talent Assessments Lead to Skills Intelligence
Skills intelligence is more than a buzzword in business; it’s a core competency behind organizational success. Understanding the skills of your employees and how they relate to their current and potential roles gives you the data you need to strategize for the future of your company. The benefits extend beyond providing data to support the development of new training programs, for example, to transform the safety, efficacy, engagement, and longevity of your workforce.
Dynamic Skills: How to Prepare for Change
We are all familiar with how quickly our world is changing around us. Due to rapid technological advances and pandemic era business disruptions, one of the struggles this presents for the business world is the constantly changing and ever-expanding requirements of necessary skills. The pace of digital and industry advancement is demanding employees to learn more skills to stay current while the half-life of skills continues to shorten.
Five Ways to Develop Employees Using Succession Planning
Successful succession planning depends on retaining high potential talent and developing those employees so they are prepared to fill key roles. Development efforts often are based on well-defined individual career paths, which keep employees engaged and motivated to excel. However, even companies who don’t have a full-scale career pathing process can bolster succession planning efforts by focusing on honing the talent and leadership skills needed for each vital position.
Employee Retention Strategies to Keep Your Star Employees
Employees are the essence of any business. They are responsible for the day-to-day operations that keep the lights on. Keeping your employees for as long as possible is a goal that every HR team should have. Less employee turnover will help to keep your company stable. Employee retention strategies are becoming more common as companies have taken attrition more seriously as they continue to realize the impact it has on their bottom line.
Ten Ways to Boost Internal Talent Mobility
We all know that mobilizing internal talent is beneficial. After all, you’ve already invested heavily in your employees – why not maximize that investment, and reduce costs by cutting reliance on external recruitment? Still, companies make it surprisingly difficult for employees to move internally. Gartner suggests that only 27% of workers feel that their employers make it easy to find and switch into attractive internal opportunities.
Why You Should Hire Internal Candidates
Hiring is simultaneously one of the most difficult and most important processes of any business. Employees are the life of any major company, as they produce value and carry the brand of an organization. As a result, finding the right candidate for an open position can pose a major task for any HR team. A bad hire can cost an organization up to $240,000 in expenses related to training, retention, and compensation.

It’s critical that your teams feel safe, valued, and connected at such a critical time. So how can HR leaders help their business thrive? We think it boils down to one thing: empathy. Empathy is powerful.
Addressing the Skills Gap: Taking a Comprehensive Approach to Upskilling and Reskilling
The fundamental view of how skills fit into the business landscape is changing. Key trends include a shortened shelf life of learned skills, shifting skills due to technology disruption, and a pure lack of available talent. On a global level, skills shortages are predicted in a variety of industries while hiring talent externally costs businesses a considerable amount more than it does to train someone inside the business.

Today’s workplace culture has an extroversion bias. According to a survey published in Industrial Psychiatry, 88% of supervisors are extroverts. Of midlevel managers, the number is closer to 95%, while top executives are almost entirely made up of extroverts (98%). The reason is relatively simple: Managers often base merit on their own image. In other words, out of a pool of candidates, the one most resembling the hiring manager will likely land the job.
Why Talent Hoarding Is Bad for Business
You’ve probably encountered this scenario before: Your company hires a great new employee who quickly meets and exceeds all expectations. This employee is the definition of a rock star: They work well with everyone in the department, get things done, and think creatively. All seems to be going swimmingly — but then, having reached their full potential within that department, the employee starts to look elsewhere for new opportunities.

Employee engagement is heavily influenced by both specific perks like flex time and intangible factors like positive relationships with coworkers and bosses.
4 Steps to Implement Automated Employee Certification Tracking

For example, someone operating heavy machinery without certification can stop the manufacturing plant for further inspections and pose a threat of safety to employees. According to research performed by the Ponemon Institute and GlobalScape, the yearly cost of noncompliance can run a company about $14.8 million, while paying for up-to-date compliance is just $5.5 million.

Data from the Department of Labor shows that adults older than 55 made up nearly half of all the employment gains in 2018.
