Discussion Previous research has indicated that acupuncture may have benefits in reducing liver fat content among individuals with MAFLD.21 25 However, multicentre randomised controlled clinical trials are essential to properly evaluate the role of acupuncture in treating MAFLD. Therefore, our study will provide high-quality evidence to assess the clinical effectiveness of acupuncture for MAFLD.
