STEUBEN COUNTY, NY (WENY) — A new statewide bureau, the Office of Immigrant Trust (OIT), sent letters to a dozen law enforcement agencies throughout New York State, directing them to end their agreements with federal immigration officers. Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard said his agency has worked with the Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for over two decades and feels this is an overreach.

HORNELL, NY (WENY) — Celebrations are winding down at Saint Ann’s Church in Hornell. The year-long jubilee comes to an end on Sunday, with a special Mass to commemorate over a century of worship. “Sunday, at the 10:45 Mass, the Bishop of Rochester will be here to celebrate with former priests, people who were from Hornell, and we will have a procession of many parts of the parish,” said the Co-chair of the 175th Anniversary Committee, Michael Colomaio.

ELMIRA, NY (WENY) — Samuel Clemens, AKA Mark Twain, is a big name in Elmira. Now, people can explore the local places that helped shape his life and writing. “I want this trail to really celebrate Mark Twain’s historical legacy here in Elmira,” said Dr. Joseph Lemak, the director of the Center of Mark Twain Studies. Samuel Clemens was born in 1835 in Missouri and adopted his well-known pen name Mark Twain in 1863.
