Voters in Greenland chose the social-liberal and pro-business Demokraatit party in a landslide victory on Tuesday (11 March), in the shadow of US calls to take over its vast territory. Demokraatit won with almost one third (29.9 percent) of the vote, putting 33-year old party leader Jens-Frederik Nielsen in charge of forming a new government, following over 40 years of rule by left-leaning parties.

"It looks much more like revenge than a rational military reaction," he said. Military experts had advised him that "if it's about taking out the leadership of Hamas it could have been done with much fewer civilian casualties," Lykketoft added. Israel has killed approximately 19,700 people in Gaza, most of them children and women (according to UN-cited figures), in the past 10 weeks. Hamas, the Palestinian group which rules Gaza, killed some 1,200 Israelis and took around 240 hostages on 7 October.

This weekend she will jet to Dubai for talks about climate impact from food production in the Nordic Pavilion, where her organisation hosts over 70 events during the two week climate summit. "We have honesty in our approach towards climate change – and a lot to show", she told EUobserver before departing. Nordic CO2 emissions have been reduced by 26 percent since 1990, according to her organisation's recent climate report, titled Nordic Stocktake — Pathways to Climate Neutrality.
