1. Introduction Intergroup helping is a common intergroup behavior that occurs between different groups, such as gender, ethnicity, social class, or nationality. While the act of helping is generally seen as being positive, existing theories suggest that helping, especially intergroup helping, is in fact driven by a variety of motivations which can include empathy, but can also include impression management or gaining power over the recipient [1,2].
