Liz Goldner’s Biography

I am an art and cultural journalist, covering a broad range of subjects in my articles, profiles and reviews. I report on artists — from figurative to conceptual, to Light and Space to graffiti. I write articles on the merging of art with nature, of art with science, environmental art and California Scene Painting, among numerous other art related topics. I dialogue with artists, art lovers and arts administrators in interviews, on studio visits and at the many exhibitions she attends.

I grew up in the NYC area, and haunted the city’s museums, particularly MoMA, as a teenager, worked in general journalism, touring museums in my spare time, and later moved to Southern California. In 2000, I became the OC Metro (Orange County, CA magazine) art columnist, and soon graduated to reviewing art for many other publications.

Living in Southern California, I write about artists, art trends, art administrators, exhibitions and venues for: the Los Angeles Times, KCET Artbound, Artillery magazine, Art and Cake, Irvine Weekly, L.A. Weekly, OC Art Blog, Premiere OC, Visual Art Source and for the AICA-USA online magazine. My recent KCET Artbound article was republished in the online art magazine, Hyperallergic.

I have written for: Art Ltd. magazine, ArtScene magazine, artsNantucket, Coast, Fabrik magazine, HuffPost, Laguna Beach Art Patron magazine, Los Angeles Review of Books, OC Metro, OC Register Magazine, Orange Coast, Orange County Register, OC Weekly, Women in the Arts, California Art Club and many other publications.

I was Project Manager/Contributor of the book, “Laguna Canyon Project: Refining Artivism,” published in 2018 by Laguna Wilderness Press, have contributed to several other art-related books, and am an International Association of Art Critics - AICA - member.

Since 2006, I have won 14 awards, including seven First Place awards, for my art writing from the Orange County Press Club, and was nominated for a National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Award from the Los Angeles Press Club.
