New Mexico may not be home to an NFL team but a New Mexican will be on the field for the Super Bowl. Kasey Gchachu, an Albuquerque resident born in Zuni, is one of the many professionals working the game as the company he works for provides the sound for the Super Bowl halftime show and microphones for the refs. Right now, Kasey is in Phoenix rehearsing for his fifth Super Bowl, his wife, Patricia Gchachu, said. “The whole family is very excited whenever he does the Super Bowl,” Patricia said.

It was the chefs — not the Chiefs — who battled in this Souper Bowl. And it was for a good cause: Roadrunner Food Bank. The nonprofit’s annual fundraiser took place Saturday as dozens of local eateries went head-to-head to see which could bring it with the best soup. Around 1,000 area eaters came out to sample the entries, raising money and awareness on hunger in New Mexico.
