Page 531. The units for the headings of Table 1, columns 2, 3, and 4, should be “(mmol)”, not “(mol/L)”. Table 1. Amounts of Chemicals Used and pH in Each Synthesisa Pages 536–537. The headings for the second and third sections of Table 4, column 6, should be not “Mn/Al” but “Zn/Al” and “Mg/Al”, respectively. In the last row of the second and third sections of that table, column 5, the combined alkaline metals should be “K+Li”, not “Na+Li”, in both cases. Table 4.

Abstract Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) with similar compositions to the minerals shigaite, natroglaucocerinite, and motukoreaite were synthesized by co-precipitation with increasing pH and characterized by several instrumental techniques. These minerals have previously been described to occur only with sodium and sulfate (Na(H2O)6)[M+26Al3(OH)18(SO4)2]·6H2O (M2+ = Mn, Mg, and Zn). These phases were synthesized successfully along with others containing lithium and potassium.
