Introduction Dermatomyositis (DM) is a type of idiopathic inflammatory myopathy (IIM) that primarily affects the skin, muscles, and lungs. Different myositis-specific antibodies represent different clinical subtypes. Anti-melanoma differentiation-related gene 5 (MDA5) antibody-positive DM (MDA5+ DM) is a unique subtype of DM that presents as clinically amyopathic DM (CADM).
