May 13, 2026, 9:49 PM On May 6, Chapel Hill Town Manager Ted Voorhees unveiled the Town’s fiscal year 2026-27 proposed budget, showing a 3.4 percent increase in overall spending compared to the previous fiscal year. This year, the total FY 2027 recommended budget is $169.7 million.

Apr 24, 2026, 1:22 AM On April  15, the Chapel Hill Town Council discussed the possibility of extending the mayoral term and reducing the size of the town council. Currently, mayors are elected to a two-year term, but the new proposal would have them elected for four-year terms. There are currently nine members on the town council, including eight council members and the mayor.
