Interview
What was your first job as a journalist?
Sports Journalist at Manc Sport
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Definitely Clark Kent, being a journalist gave him access to breaking news and kept him close to the action.
Why did you become a journalist?
I have always loved sports. Growing up, it was everything—whether I was playing, watching, or talking about it. I've always been fascinated by the emotion, drama, and how it brings people together like nothing else. That passion naturally evolved into a love for storytelling, and journalism was the ideal way to combine the two.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
The work I'm most proud of is a documentary I made called "Behind the Mask,A journey into men’s Mental health" which examines men's mental health and the positive impacts of sports. It was a really significant and meaningful project that let me combine my love of creating stories with an important topic.
In addition to earning a First-Class grade at university, the documentary was honoured to be chosen to be included in a showcase of the best work at University Academy 92.
It made me see why, despite my studies in sports journalism, journalists must cover more ground than simply sports and subjects that matter.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Don't wait for approval; instead, create your own opportunities. Whether it's an internship or volunteering, continuously putting your work out there will lead to more opportunities than you realise. You never know who could be reading or watching.
Also: show up. Attend the games, strike up a conversation, and ask questions. Your presence builds trust and provides you with stories you won't receive from behind a screen, whether it's non-league football or a grassroots event.
What's your favorite drink?
Fanta Orange is the best,top-tier, no debate 🍊🔥
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Either on a run or on a football pitch.
