Louis Rosenberg’s Biography
Louis Rosenberg, PhD is a technologist and writer in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Virtual and Augmented Reality, and other emerging technologies with a focus on AI risks.
Rosenberg is well-known as an early inventor of augmented reality and a longtime AI researcher. His work began in 1991 in labs at NASA, Stanford, and the US Air Force where he developed the Virtual Fixtures platform, the world’s first system to enable users to interact with a mixed reality of real and virtual objects.
In 1993 he founded the early virtual reality company Immersion Corporation and brought it public on NASDAQ. In 2004 he founded the early augmented reality company Outland Research which was acquired by Google in 2011. In 2014 he founded the artificial intelligence company Unanimous AI to pioneer the concepts of artificial swarm intelligence, hyper-communication, and collective superintelligence.
He received his PhD from Stanford University, was a tenured professor at California State University and is currently CEO & Chief Scientist of Unanimous AI. He has been awarded over 300 patents worldwide for his work as a computer scientist.
Rosenberg is the author of various books on artificial intelligence including Our Next Reality, Arrival Mind, and One of Us. He is also the author of graphic novels including Monkey Room, EONS, and Upgrade. He has written frequently for VentureBeat and Big Think, focused mostly on emerging technologies and human risks.
He is currently Chief Scientist of Unanimous AI and a board member of the Virtual World Society.
