Several local communities will take time on this Memorial Day to honor the men and women of the U.S. military who made the ultimate sacrifice. In South Bend, the 100th Annual Westside Memorial Day Parade steps off at 8:15 am from Ford Street. There will be a memorial service following the parade at the St. Joseph Cemetery. The Memorial Day Parade in Mishawaka will begin at 9:30 am in Downtown Mishawaka at the intersection of Main Street and Third Street.

Opening day for the South Bend Cubs on Friday comes with the recently completed renovations at Four Winds Field. The $48 million project that expanded the stadium with a new upper deck and events space is one of several big projects for downtown South Bend in just the last couple of years and it's adding up. According to the city, it's seeing nearly a billion dollars in investment. "It's kind of this complicated puzzle that all has to fit together.
