To the Editor: Infections are a major source of morbidity and mortality in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). The development of targeted agents decreased the infection rate but patients, often elderly, with comorbidities and heavily treated, could experience serious infectious complications. Treatment with the new molecules has increased in routine clinical practice, but data on infection incidence are generally extrapolated from clinical trials, and real-world data are rare.
