1 Introduction Large-scale wildfires have become a growing threat to ecological and social stability, with devastating effects on people, biodiversity, and ecosystem services (Hurteau et al. 2014; Balch et al. 2015; Fann et al. 2018; Kelly et al. 2020). Tropical wetlands, historically resilient to fire, are now under increasing fire risk due to climate change and land-use change pressures (Convention on Wetlands 2025).
