Transvulcania: The Power of Connection
23 I still grin when I think about standing on the podium at Transvulcania beside Blandine L’Hirondel and Emelie Forsberg. I’m already back home in Australia and other races have been run and won. But I can’t shake the feeling of pride – not just in myself, but in us. And it has very little to do with the 75k and 4,400 meters of climbing that carried us from one coastline of La Palma to the other.
Skimming The Sparkling New Layer Crowning Jonathan Anderson’s Stunning Dior Mythos
Dior under Jonathan Anderson’s tenure has been, thus far, floral, flirty, and a little bit fantastic. The sprightliness didn’t stop at his Spring-Summer Haute Couture debut forthe house last month, and it’s no surprise coming from the crowned king of Loewe vivaciousness - Anderson’s every show so far has been a whimsical fusion of archetypal luxuryhouse codes, elements drawn from his own brand JW Anderson, and the quintessential cultural references inherent in the DNA of both.
Ultra What? - Ultra Running Magazine
8.7K Ultrarunning. Honestly, who came up with this name? Take a perfectly reasonable sport like running and then decide, “Let’s do it for so long that our legs forget their purpose and our brains file HR complaints.” Then add trails so we can trip on roots, fall off ridges and tell people we “love nature” while aggressively yelling at mud. That’s my sport. Recently, I wrote “athlete” as my occupation while going through border control in Australia.

Cocodona 250: Adventures Beyond the Finish Line
3 This article was originally published in the October/November 2025 issue of UltraRunning Magazine. Subscribe today for similar features on ultra training, racing and more. When you sign up for a race, you’re signing up for an adventure—not just the distance from the start line to the finish, but the journey leading up to it. The race becomes a celebration of that journey. It’s the cherry on top of a cake that, at its core, doesn’t need a cherry—it’s a nice-to-have, not a need-to-have.

Before a race, we have (usually) done the hard work. We trained as best we could, given the circumstances we were offered. We got enough sleep, ate well, consumed enough …

'In God We Trust': Christian Nationalism and what it means for the 2024 US election
With the imminent United States election, an examination of the role of Christian nationalism in American politics is critical. An ideology that seeks to maintain the fusion of the Christian religion with American civic life, Christian nationalism has emerged as a relatively new phenomenon. In 1956 Dwight D. Eisenhower made ‘In God We Trust’ the national motto and printed it on all US bank notes.

Chasing Goals - Ultra Running Magazine
1 Each day, I write a to-do list—a low-hanging set of daily goals to try and achieve. This list is ever-evolving, with big and not-so-big tasks. Putting pen to paper and ticking each one off is satisfying—it feels good. Even if the joy of taking out the compost means that I don’t have to see the bin overflowing, having that reward and checking it off my list means I feel it twice, and it sure is nice. There also can be a goal within a goal.
Old School Ultras: Record Temperatures & Record Numbers at Diez Vista
1.3K The hottest day in the Diez Vista’s 26-year history didn’t just apply to the weather in Port Moody, BC, as the top runners all but lit the 50k course on fire. The 10-year-old men’s course record was broken by the top three runners, with the new fastest time by Marcus Ribi now sitting at an astonishing 3:50. On the women’s side, we saw the quickest time in 15 years by Sarah James in 4:50, though the overall record from 2007 still sits just beyond reach.
Chasing Goals - Ultra Running Magazine
363 “Never have a lack of goals.” It’s a quote I always remind myself of when it comes to both running and life. Every day, I write a list of things to do—a low-hanging set of goals to try and achieve each day, or else they rollover to the next. This list is ever-evolving, with big lofty tasks and smaller, low-hanging fruit. Putting pen to paper and ticking it off is satisfying. It feels good, and it’s meaningful.
Running Shorter Races
1 My name is Lucy Bartholomew, and I am an ultra trail runner. However, I don’t sit in that box with the lid firmly secure. Most of the days I run, they aren’t ultra distances. Small crumbs of training runs have all been collected and mushed into a loaf of bread that I bake on race day. Sometimes I burn it, sometimes it’s got the perfect crust but a good race smells oh so good.
Combat Race Day Nerves
It takes a lot of nerve to sign up for a race and step up to a start line. And what takes nerve, can create the feeling of being nervous. Those feelings come from a response in the nervous system—it’s fight or flight: freeze or run. We are built with this response, and it is important to allow yourself to feel this way. These feelings mean you care about being alive (in a dangerous circumstance) or running a race. Before a race, we have (usually) done the hard work.
Prepare To Meet New Fed Expectations On Effective Boards
Law360 (March 18, 2021, 4:44 PM EDT) -- On Feb. 26, the board of governors of the Federal Reserve System published supervisory guidance[1] regarding the effectiveness of boards of directors at large financial institutions.[2] The guidance, which finalizes proposed guidance from 2017,[3] sets forth five "principles-based" attributes of an effective board.
