He previously worked as a correspondent covering Florida State athletics and general assignments for the Orlando Sentinel. Prior to working for the Sentinel, Luis covered Middle Tennessee State University for the Daily News Journal in Murfreesboro, Tennessee where he won an APSE top 10, among other awards. Joe Gaba walked into the Chatham gymnasium in 1997 and thought to himself, “Okay, we can do this.” Gaba, then 27 years old, had just agreed to become the girls basketball coach at the Morris County school. The statement was a promise he would help turn Chatham from a middle-of-the-pack girls basketball program into one of the state’s premier programs. Gaba did so for almost three decades. Now, he is moving on to the next level.
