Abstract Tritrichomonas foetus, a protozoan parasite responsible for bovine and feline trichomonosis, has traditionally been considered to form only pseudocysts. Here, we demonstrate that T. foetus produces true cysts characterized by a chitin-like, fibrillar wall, cytoskeletal reorganization, and resistance to detergent treatment.
