BOYDS, MD — In 2025, Northeastern Women’s Rugby returned to Boston with two trophies, winning the National Championship in both 7s and 15s. Back at CRCs in 2026, the Maddogs find themselves atop the Division I-AA conference once again following a 14-0 victory over Colorado State. The two-match, final day of the tournament began unexpectedly for Northeastern — they conceded an early try in the semifinal game against Arizona State, which gave the Maddogs their first deficit of the weekend.

As back-to-back defending champions in Division I-AA, the Maddogs hold high expectations for the 2026 tournament, striving for their third-straight national championship. The day started early with an 11 A.M. match against Utah State.

Luke Graham / WRBB Sports BOYDES, MARYLAND — Friday kicked off National Collegiate Rugby’s Collegiate Rugby Championship, bringing 144 men’s and women’s collegiate programs to the Maryland SoccerPlex for a jam-packed weekend of Rugby. Northeastern brought both a men’s and women’s side to represent the ‘Maddog’ moniker. With the women’s half of the tournament not beginning until Saturday, Apr. 25, the focus on Friday was about the men’s team.
