ESPN Changes WWE PLE Pre-Broadcast for Summerslam

wrestling / News Since the move to ESPN Unlimited, regular cable channel ESPN has typically broadcast the first hour for free. This weekend for Summerslam, however, there’s been a change of programming. As noted by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, ESPN is going to run a three-hour preshow with no actual matches this time. from 3-6 p.m. eastern, on both days. According to Dave Meltzer, the feeling internally is that the free matches did not drive subscriptions at the level which was hoped for.

Summerslam Notes on Legends and Talent in Attendance

wrestling / News It’s Summerslam weekend in Minneapolis, and as usual for the biggest PLEs, there’s no shortage of additional talent on hand to promote the show. Per PWInsider, Sean “X-Pac” Waltman, Jimmy Hart, Rikishi, The Undertaker, and The Dudley Boyz are on hand, even doing paid photo ops at a Fanatics weekend event. It feels like a sure thing that they’ll at least be shown on camera in the audience at the show itself.

Update on Tay Melo Asking for Her Release

wrestling / News Does Tay Melo want out of pro wrestling, or just out of AEW? It depends whom you ask, and who’s interpreting. According to Tony Khan, she asked for her release from the company after her match at Collision, and told him she wanted to step away from wrestling. Khan said he granted he her the release. Some, however, have a different read on things, after Melo made an Instagram post about a tree she had that didn’t thrive in its pot.
