Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

An internship at a local newspapper. It was a very enriching experience

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Unfortunately, no!

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Tough choice! Maybe Tessa from 'The Constant Gardener'.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

It means bringing out the truth and making information available for all. It is a public service meant to be done with and for the people.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Any personal channel is fine.

What's your favorite social network?

It used to be twitter, before the Elon Musk era... Now it's definitely Instagram, for news consumption AND for private usage.

Why did you become a journalist?

To write good stories. To meet real people in real places. To shed light on what is overlooked. To search for the truth and change prejudice.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

Giving a voice to unvaccinated migrants. Or any story that involved meeting interesting people.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

I still consider myself an aspiring journalist. If I could give myself any advice, it would be: keep worrying.

What's the worst pitch you ever got?

I'm usually the one doing the pitch. So probably something dumb I've said myself!

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

If at work, probably interviewing someone on their natural habitat for longer than I should. If on a day off, on a caffè w/ my family/friends

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

Médor, Público, Aljazeera, newsmagazines in general and small cultural critique online publications
