Parts of Ontario are on track to be hit with another potentially significant snowstorm this week. According to CTV News Toronto Weather Anchor Lyndsay Morrison, confidence is growing that a storm will sweep across the region Friday. Between 10 and 20 cm of snow could fall across southern Ontario. Another powerful weather system is headed for Ontario on Friday.

After a warmer-than-normal January, February is off to a frigid start in parts of Ontario. A polar vortex is descending over Ontario this week and some of the coldest weather is still to come. A blast of arctic air will infiltrate the lower Great Lakes area beginning Thursday night, bringing cities like Toronto their coolest temperatures of the season so far. Wind chills will also reach dangerous levels, increasing the risk of frostbite.

Winter will be making a major comeback this week with a significant snow storm set to blast through southern Ontario. Environment Canada issued a special weather statement from Windsor to Quebec City, warning of a high impact storm arriving Wednesday. Rapidly accumulating snow and reduced visibility could lead to travel concerns. At the height of the storm, two centimetres of snow could fall per hour in the hardest hit areas.
