A Streptomyces megacluster encodes synergistic biotin-targeting antibiotics
Abstract Natural products remain a major source of antibiotics, but discovery efforts have traditionally treated biosynthetic gene clusters as sources of individual bioactive molecules1,2,3,4,5. Increasing evidence has suggested that microorganisms can instead encode coordinated multi-metabolite systems, yet the genetic architectures and biological logic of such systems remain poorly understood6,7,8,9,10,11,12. Here we show that Streptomyces spp.
Covalent bonds found in α-Pu
Plutonium has captured the attention of scientists since its discovery in the early 1940s. This enigmatic element has an important role to play in emerging energy technologies like nuclear batteries and reactors, but it also has complicated electronic behavior that causes some intriguing effects. Its electron structure contributes to unconventional entropic properties at low temperatures, multiple phase transitions before melting, and complex bonding patterns.

Reduction of nutrients, microbes and personal care products in domestic wastewater by a benchtop electrocoagulation unit
Abstract To preserve environmental and human health, improved treatment processes are needed to reduce nutrients, microbes and emerging chemical contaminants from domestic wastewater prior to discharge into the environment.
Effect of topical imiquimod as primary treatment for lentigo maligna: the LIMIT-1 study
Topical imiquimod is sometimes used for lentigo maligna (LM) in situ melanoma instead of surgery, but frequency of cure is uncertain. Pathological complete regression (pCR) is a logical surrogate marker for cure after imiquimod, although residual LM and atypical melanocytic hyperplasia may not be reliably distinguished. A trial comparing imiquimod vs. surgery might be justified by a high imiquimod pCR rate. Primary: to estimate the pCR rate for LM following imiquimod.
