Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) is an exceedingly rare disorder in pregnancy. It is associated with transient ischemic lesions in the “watershed” cortical areas of the posterior cerebral circulation in the parietal and occipital regions. Nowadays, although the underlying pathophysiological mechanism of PRES is still contentious, several risk factors such as hypertension, preeclampsia or eclampsia, and autoimmune disorders have been recognized.
