Two nations. Fifty-two years. Twenty-eight years. That's how long Haiti and Scotland waited to stand on the biggest stage in sport again. Haiti hadn't qualified for a World Cup since 1974. Scotland hadn't qualified since 1998. For several generations in both nations, this was the first time they'd ever seen their flag on that stage. It should have been remembered as one of the great underdog stories of 2026. Instead, weeks later, both head coaches were under fire.

In my previous Linkedin post, I talked about how AI isn't just changing job titles but, is eliminating entire role categories. That conversation needed to happen. But it was only half the story. The other half is harder. And more important. Because the real question isn't what jobs are disappearing. It's what humans are for now. The Mass Firing Is Real. Let's Not Pretend Otherwise. Over 1 million job cuts were announced in the U.S. in 2025 alone, the highest level since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The question stopped being whether AI was going to transform businesses. It became: when will the results arrive, and whose head rolls if they don't? Let that land for a moment. According to BCG's 2026 AI Radar survey, 50% of CEOs now believe their job stability depends on successfully integrating AI this year. The pressure doesn't stop at the top, among non-CEO executives, more than half believe their CEO or board should resign if the company loses market share due to an inadequate AI strategy.
