Oklahomans returned to the voting booth Tuesday. And despite all the advertising and the questionable statements made by many candidates, the voters had the opportunity to choose for themselves. Across this state, those choices were made. The residents who went to the polls said publicly who they believed in and, at the same time, told other candidates, “thanks but no thanks.” Consider the governor’s race.

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Freedom Caucus wanted them out. Seven members of the Senate were targeted as evil, un-Christian and the bright example of a bad public servant. This group of seven, the Freedom Caucus said, were evil and corrupt. If you believed the caucus, the seven — Ally Seifried of Claremore, Tom Woods of Westville, Bill Coleman of Ponca City, Todd Gollihare of Kellyville, Chuck Hall of Perry, Brenda Stanley of Midwest City and Grant Green of Wellston all were harming the state.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma’s primary election was an evening of wild voting results topped by a big win of former House Speaker T.W. Shannon. Shannon pulled in more than 53% in the race for lieutenant governor, outpacing five other candidates. The high percentage means that Shannon earned the GOP nomination.
