Abstract Parathyroid carcinoma (PC) is most often linked to germline or somatic CDC73 mutations. Previously, we identified three CDC73-wildtype PCs with massive chromosomal losses and genome near-haploidization, with or without endoreduplication/genome doubling – features also seen in rare tumor types such as oncocytic thyroid carcinoma.

1 Introduction Molecular testing is increasingly used across thyroid lesions, ranging from benign nodules to aggressive carcinomas. Thyroid cancer represents the most common endocrine malignancy [1]. While differentiated thyroid cancer generally has an excellent prognosis, even benign thyroid nodules cause a significant psychosocial burden [2].
