What was your first job as a journalist?
My first official "job" was a freelancing opportunity for a publication at which I'd previously interned.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
I wish! I have a strong desire to buy a typewriter from an antique shop--one of these days, I will.
How is social media changing news?
Social media permits everyone the ability to be a self-professed "journalist," which lends itself to concerns over misinformation.
What's your favorite social network?
Instagram is a wonderfully visual marketing tool for creators--I have yet to master a hold of it!
Why did you become a journalist?
I knew that I wanted to spend a lifetime writing and sought a practical application of my skills. Furthermore, I enjoy investigative work.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I did not work for my high school newspaper, but I worked for our literary journal as Editor-in-Chief. My news journey began in university.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Don't let insecurities regarding a lack of experience hold you back from a career in journalism! If you love it, pursue it.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
I am most likely to be outdoors, exploring small towns and roaming the woods.
