Dr. Adel spends his days putting out fires and problem-solving amid the day-to-day realities of life for refugees: finding food for families without any, convincing landlords to rent homes to the dispossessed without papers, many of whom are already homeless, and overseeing a series of makeshift schools he and his team of volunteers have strung together as part of the community center they run in the suburbs of Cairo. But it’s on the night shift that he encounters the worst problems.
