YUMA, Ariz.(KYMA) - As temperatures continue to climb across the Desert Southwest, doctors at Onvida Health are reminding residents that extreme heat can do more than cause heat exhaustion. It can also put significant strain on the heart. Dr. Sowjanya Yenigalla, a cardiologist at Onvida Health, said the body works harder to stay cool during periods of extreme heat. "Extreme heat can affect both the heart and blood vessels," Yenigalla said.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Yuma Mayor Doug Nicholls is seeking a fourth term, saying he still has more work to accomplish for the community. Mayor Nicholls said serving as mayor has been one of the greatest honors of his life and thanked Yuma voters for their continued support. "It's been a little bit surreal that we've been able to give back to our community at this level, and I humbly ask for a vote moving forward," Nicholls said.

Reporter Madeline Murray spoke with the couple about how they knew it was love at first sight. YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Vern and Kathy Winter, a couple from Yuma, are celebrating 60 years of marriage Wednesday. It all started at a gas station in Bellingham, Washington in April of 1965 on an unexpected blind date. "I'll let you do that one, it was a blind date…how should we start…well," the couple shared. Vern and a buddy of his were in the U.S. Navy together and shared a car.
