Madra Salach

There is something almost conspiratorial about arriving at Beyond the Pale, one of Ireland’s newest small festivals. Tucked into the Glendalough valley in Wicklow, close enough to Dublin that the city falls away rather than disappears, the festival site has the feeling of a well-kept secret: a glacial valley ringed by ancient woodland that optimistic founders decided was the right place to put a music festival.

About Alternative folk six-piece Madra Salach announce their debut Ireland and UK headline tour kicking off with Cork on Feb 5th before performances in Clonakilty, Galway, Listowel, Limerick and Dundalk. Their first UK date is Glasgow on March 18th and with their final show of the run in London on March 26. The full list of dates are below.

In 1945 George Orwell wrote an essay entitled ‘The Freedom of the Press’ to preface his book Animal Farm. It wasn’t included and lay undiscovered until 1972. The essay examines the phenomenon of voluntary censorship and specifically how the English press censored itself during WW2 by refusing to report on the internal dynamics of the Russian regime.
