Psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia affect 2% to 3% of the global population; that is 20.9 million people worldwide (Charlson et al., 2018; World Health Organization [WHO], 2004). Common symptoms of psychotic disorders include distressing experiences, such as hallucinations or hearing and seeing things that other people cannot see and hear.
